The cliffs rise 120 m (400 ft) above theAtlantic Ocean to Hag's Head and reach their maximum height of 214 m (702 ft) north of O'Brien's Tower, eight kilometers away. The cliffs boast one of the most spectacular views in Ireland. On a clear day the Aran islands are visible in Galway Bay, as well as the valleys and hills of the Connemara.
When to go
The cliffs are always open: the area is very windy and can get cold even on sunny days. Wear windbreaker and hiking shoes.

By plane

By car
The cliffs can be reached by the R478 from Liscannor to Doolin. There is parking which costs € 8 per person in the vehicle. The cliffs themselves are accessible for free, but the visitor center isn't.
By bus
From Galway there is a bus service to the cliffs.
By bike
The cliffs are perfect for a bike ride from Lahinch and from other nearby cities.

The Cliffs of Moher are among the most impressive places to see in Ireland and are widely regarded as one of Ireland's top tourist attractions, with nearly one million visitors in 2006. You can walk them all by following the beaten path overhanging the ocean.

It was built by Sir Cornellius O'Brien, descendant of the high king of Ireland Brian Boru, in 1835, as an observation tower for the hundreds of tourists who frequented the cliffs even at that date. From the watchtower, you can see the Aran Islands and Galway Bay, the Maum Turk Mountains and the Twelve Bens to the north in Connemara and Loop Head to the south. - O'Brien Line Ferries offers cruises under the Cliffs of Moher.

Safety
Be very careful because more than one person has died falling below. A path, marked by barriers built with stone slabs, runs internally with respect to the original path that winds over the precipice. Climbing this barrier can be very dangerous, both for the wind and because the edge of the precipice is unstable.
