Serra de Tramuntana - Serra de Tramuntana

Reservoirs in front of the Puig Major

The Serra de Tramuntana is a region to the west of Mallorca. It is determined by the mountain range of the same name. The highest mountain on the island rises here, the 1,443 meter high Puig Major. However, it is a restricted area and may not be entered. The mountain range stretches from the northeast along the north coast to the southeast. There are hardly any beaches or vacation spots here, but there are many scenic and cultural attractions. Only a few major roads lead through the region. The cultural landscape of the Serra de Tramuntana with its terraced fields and interlinked, sophisticated irrigation systems is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
