Sieber is a place in Southern Lower Saxony, on the western edge of the Harz only about 2 km from the western boundary of the Harz National Park located. The small town in the Siebertal is part of the city Herzberg am Harz.

Sieber is a small place in the idyllic Siebertal, which is touched by the Sieber, a tributary of the Oder on the edge. As a former mining site and seat of wood grinding shops, all of which are now closed, tourism is now an important economic factor in the area. Sieber is a suitable place for those seeking tranquility and hikers. The tranquil valley offers hiking trails of various levels of difficulty, the steep slopes lead up to challenging hiking routes e.g. to the Großer Knollen or to the Hanskühnenburg.

By train

Several regional train lines to Northeim, Göttingen, Nordhausen and Braunschweig, among others, enable the connection to the long-distance train network. They all stop at Herzberg (Harz) train station, from there the bus continues to Sieber.

By bus

From Herzberg, more precisely from the train station, buses run every hour on line 451 to Sieber, tw. also about Lonau. The buses also take bicycles with them.

In the street

Coming from the south, leave the A 7 at the junction Goettingen-Nord (72) and follow the B 27 towards Braunlage for about 38 km to Herzberg. Shortly before leaving the town in the direction of Braunlage, turn left and follow the L 521 towards Sankt Andreasberg for about 7 km to Sieber (signposted from Herzberg).

Coming from the north, leave the A 7 at the junction Seesen (67) and follow the B 243 direction Osterode and then direction Nordhausen for about 30 km to the Herzberg-Nord junction. Exit here and follow the signs for about 8 km to Sieber.

Coming from the east, leave the A 38 at the junction Major changes (9) and follow the B 243 direction Osterode for about 35 km to Herzberg. At the first crossroads in town, turn right and follow the L 521 towards Sankt Andreasberg for about 7 km to Sieber (signposted from Herzberg).

From direction Sankt Andreasberg Coming there is a very idyllic, but winding and sometimes a bit demanding ride on the serpentine road down to Sieber into the Siebertal.
