Soverato is a city of Calabria in the province of Catanzaro.

Geographical notes
Soverato is distributed throughout the territory in three distinct areas: the first is the coastal area, the second, in the hills and the third, always hilly, represents what remains of the old Soverato. The population is mostly distributed in the coastal area.
The city is located in the southern part of the Gulf of Squillace and, given the tourist influx that the city has in the summer, is considered the most important tourist center of the Ionian coast.
When to go
Tourism represents the fulcrum of the economy of Soverato, and being a maritime city, during the summer there is a strong jump in the population, especially in August.
Generally, tourists are used to frequent its promenade, full of clubs and attractions.
Background
Soverato rises on the territory which, in the 10th century AD. a village called "Suberatum" was founded, a name that, over the centuries, will become the current one.
In the Soverato Vecchia you can see the remains of the city destroyed by the earthquake of 1783, which struck many areas of Southern Italy.
In addition to the ancient part of the city, Soverato also offers works of very high historical content such as the Pietà del Gagini, dating back to 1521 and kept in the Church of the Addolorata in Soverato Superiore.
