O South of Brazil it is the smallest region in the country, occupying an area of 576,783.8 km² (about 6.8% of the Brazilian territory), and one of the most economically developed. Its population in 2016 was 29,439,773 inhabitants (14.29% compared to other regions in Brazil). It is limited to the north by the states ofSão Paulo andMato Grosso do Sul, south byUruguay, west byParaguay and forArgentina, in addition to being washed to the east by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
