Tabaghbagh (also Tabaghbugh, Tibaghbagh, Arabic:تبغبغ) Is a sink and a spring about 120 kilometers east of the city Siwa on the southern edge of the Qattara Depression, in the north of el-ʿArag. It is known for its natural beauty and the vegetation at the local spring.
getting there
There are essentially two ways of getting there or through. One is a trip from the Qattara Depression via Tabaghbagh to el-ʿArag possible.
Second, you can get to the valley on a day tour of the city Siwa on the Darb Siwa to 1 el-Wāṭīya(28 ° 48 ′ 0 ″ N.26 ° 39 ′ 0 ″ E), Arabic:الواطية, 2 Ḥaṭīyat el-Ghardaq(28 ° 53 ′ 0 ″ N.26 ° 40 ′ 0 ″ E), Arabic:حطية الغردق, Ḥaṭīyat al-Ghardaq, and 3 Ḥaṭīyat Umm Kitābein(29 ° 4 ′ 0 ″ N.26 ° 26 ′ 0 ″ E), Arabic:حطية أم كتابين, Achieve. The spring is located about 5 kilometers northwest of Umm Kitābain 1 ʿAin Tabaghbagh(29 ° 6 ′ 0 ″ N.26 ° 24 ′ 0 ″ E), Arabic:عين تبغبغ.
In any case, you need an all-terrain four-wheel drive vehicle.
For the formalities for such a trip, refer to the information in the article about the Darb Siwa approach.
Tourist Attractions
The well over ten kilometer long depression is bounded in the north by a limestone ridge that already belongs to the Qattara depression. There are several springs along this ridge. At these springs there are swampy landscapes with lush vegetation. Lower areas can be recognized by the dark, water-containing sand, and in some cases the water also comes to the surface.
The Qattara Depression can be reached through the Tabaghbagh Pass (Naqb Tabaghbagh), a valley cut in the aforementioned ridge. Numerous tamarisks grow in this wadi. This is the basis for abundant wildlife.
