The community Untersiebenbrunn is known for early medieval, East Germanic and Alan-Sarmatian graves, which gave the type of such graves the name Untersiebenbrunn Group throughout Europe. Furthermore, the village is in the center of the Marchfeldes in addition to agricultural production (asparagus, vegetables) also known as the venue of FC Untersiebenbrunn, which played quite successfully in the Second Austrian Football League for several seasons in the 1990s and 2000s but was dissolved in 2005 due to licensing problems. The stadium is still the dominant structure of the place.

background

Map of Untersiebenbrunn

Untersiebenbrunn is around 17 km east of the Vienna city limits in the middle of Marchfeldes at the Stempfelbach and the Marchegger Ostbahn. The name of the village comes from - as well as from the neighboring municipality Obersiebenbrunn - of the "seven", i.e. many - wells and springs that feed this brook.

The first documentary mention took place in 1115, in 1340 the first church was built in the form of a fortified church. In 1910 graves of an East Germanic or Alani-Sarmatian princess and a child from the 5th century were found. The name Untersiebenbrunn Group is used by archaeologists for this type of grave in Western and Central Europe, which date from the 4th or 5th century and whose additions are varied and mixed: Roman, Sarmatian, Germanic, Alanic.

Untersiebenbrunn is the only place in the municipality. The cadastral community Neuhof is not populated. Neighboring communities are Weikendorf (N), Weiden an der March (NE), Lassee (O), Haringsee (S), Leopoldsdorf im Marchfeld (SW) and Obersiebenbrunn (W).
