Usingen is a city in the east Taunus.

Usingen is the former residence of the counts (later princes) of Nassau-Usingen. With the relocation of the seat of the princes of Usingen to Wiesbaden Usingen lost importance, but until 1972 it was the seat of the office and later the district of Usingen. Today it is a middle center in the Taunus and residential city for many commuters after Frankfurt am Main. Due to the long distance in the middle of the Hochtaunus nature park, Usingen and its 4 districts are the destination of day tourists, especially from the Rhine-Main area.

Usingen is located in the center of the Usinger Land, a plateau in the Taunus.

By plane

The nearest commercial airport is the Frankfurt am Main airport. Usingen is about 30 km north of the airport and can be reached by car or train in 45 minutes. The Anspach airfield (ICAO identification EDFA), approx. 4 km away, is a special landing field and can only be used by small private planes.

Usingen has a Taunusbahn train station. On the one hand, the Taunusbahn connects Usingen with bad Homburg. From there the S5 follows the S-Bahn-Rhein-Main every quarter of an hour Frankfurt am Main. In the morning and in the evening there are also some direct connections from Usingen to Frankfurt Central Station. In the opposite direction the train travels to Brandoberndorf. The Taunusbahn is part of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (Timetable information).

By bus

Usingen is at the intersection of the B456 (Bad Homburg / Usingen / Weilburg) and the B 275 (Bad Nauheim/ Usingen /Idstein). On summer weekends, the voluntary fire brigade regulates parking traffic (parking fee € 3 per car), otherwise use is free. Adjacent is a riding facility, a tennis hall and an excursion restaurant.

Taunusbad
