The Überlinger See is the northwest finger of the Lake Constance.

The Überlinger See region is located in Baden-Wuerttemberg. Settlement is mainly present on the north and west banks. The hilly peninsula divides between the south side of the Überlinger See and the Gnadensee, which is part of the northern Untersee Bodanrück the western Lake Constance. There are only small villages to be found here.

Regions

The tourism region Überlinger See is a narrow strip of land between Bodman-Ludwigshafen and the Obersee to Meersburg. It mainly belongs to the northern region Linzgau.

On wooden stairs you descend between 30m high rock walls to the lake, some of which are only 1m wide. The brook rushes under the stairs. The Marienschlucht is on the district Allensbach, it is located between Bodman and Wallhausen on the southern steep bank of the Überlinger See. It's a good 6 km walk from Bodman and around 4 km from Wallhausen. You can also come by ship. The gorge is currently (2015) closed.
  • Meersburg Castle - Considered to be the oldest castle in Germany. Set up as a museum, you can explore the 35 historical rooms. There is also the possibility of taking part in a tour and climbing the "Dagobertsturm" with a view of the city, the lake and the Alps or visiting the castle café.
