The Nieborowskis' goods existed from the 14th century, and in 1694 they were bought by the Primate of Poland, Cardinal Michał Stefan Radziejowski, who erected a baroque palace designed by Tylman van Gameren. In the 18th century, the property often changed hands. In 1774, the Vilnius voivode, Michał Hieronim Radziwiłł, became the owner, who equipped the palace with stylish furniture, fabrics, paintings, sculptures and artistic craftsmanship. He founded a library rich in collections (over 10,000 volumes of Polish and foreign works, including old prints from the 15th century). His wife, Helena Radziwiłł née Przeździecka, founded the famous romantic garden in Arkadia at that time. It became a meeting place for the founders of the Enlightenment era. Nieborów estate remained in the hands of the Radziwiłłs until February 1945, then the palace and park complex in Nieborów and Arkadia became a branch of the National Museum in Warsaw.
