The first settlements in the municipality were founded at the beginning of the 13th century. Many of the new settlers were Germans, to whom many place names in the area can be traced back, for example Dursztyn (Dürrenstein), Trybsz (Drive), Frydman (Friedmann), Kacwin (Katzwinkel) or Falsztyn (Falkenstein). The Gothic parish church was donated in 1310. From 1314 the village belonged to the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem out Miechów. The estate later came to the Hungarian magnate family Horvath, who built a castle here. After the First World War, the place became Polish after initial border disputes.
