The British West Indies are overseas territories British located in the Caribbean Sea.
Understand
the UK has long dominated theAtlantic Ocean North and established several settlements there. Nowadays, some islands of West Indies British dependencies still remain.
Sometimes the West Indies which were former British colonies, but which are now independent countries are included in the British West Indies since the English language is dominant there. In addition, several of these join the Commonwealth and recognize the Sovereign of the British Crown as their Head of State. The former British colonies which are now independent include the Bahamas, the Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, the Barbados, the Dominica, the Grenade, Saint Kitts and Nevis, St. LUCIA, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago. On the continent, the Belize on the east coast ofcentral America and the Guyana on the north coast ofSouth America are also former British territories.

Overseas territories British from Bermuda and Turks and Caicos Islands are sometimes included in the British West Indies since they are located in theAtlantic Ocean North, but they are not technically part of the West Indies and are not located in the Caribbean Sea.
