Barumini is located in the historical subregion of Marmilla and borders on Gergei, Gesturi, Las Plassas, Tuili is Villanovafranca. Until 2005 in the province of Cagliari and then in that of Medio Campidano, since 2016 it has been in the province of Southern Sardinia.

- From Golfo Aranci, Olbia is Nuoro take the Strada Statale 131 d.c.n. towards Cagliari, then take the Strada Statale 131 Carlo Felice towards Cagliari, take the latter until the exit "SS293-SS197", follow the signs for Barumini and take the State Road 197 of San Gavino and Flumini to then arrive to destination after 21 km.
- From Tortolì is Lanusei drive along the entire Strada Statale 198 di Seui and Lanusei, then, turn right onto the Strada Statale 128 Centrale Sarda in the direction Nurallao, then, just before the latter center, immediately left on the Strada Statale 197 towards Barumini.

Built during the end of the second millennium BC. in the Bronze Age, Su Nuraxi it is a particular type of defensive structure known as nuraghe. The complex consists of circular defensive towers in the form of a truncated cone built in ashlar, with internal rooms with vaulted corbels. The complex at Barumini, which was extended and strengthened in the first half of the 1st millennium under Carthaginian pressure, is the best and most complete example of this extraordinary form of prehistoric architecture. The site has been declared UNESCO in 1997.
