Geographical notes

The inhabited center consists of two distinct parts: the medieval village, which stands on a rocky ledge located about 150 m above the sea level, and the more properly seafaring part, developed on the coast and known as Marina di Belvedere at 5 m asl The latter, built in more recent times, houses equipment and tourist residences. The town enjoys a particularly mild winter climate and hot but not torrid summers.

Part of the municipal territory of Belvedere Marittimo is included in the protected area of ​​the Pollino National Park.

• Church of the Rosary. One of the oldest monuments is the little church of the Rosary, on whose portal, in sandstone, the year 1091 is engraved. In Contrada Rocca there is an observation tower with a Roman quadrangular base. 
• Church of the Most Holy Crucifix (In the historic center). Erected on the edge of the town, close to the ancient city walls, on the slope that slopes steeply towards the bottom of the narrow valley where the Soleo river flows, the Church of SS. Crucifix of Belvedere today presents itself with a very simple, almost modest semblant, which at first glance would suggest a history limited to narrow temporal boundaries. However, it is enough to enter the small church to be surprised by the splendid sculpture that stands out on the main altar, a gigantic wooden crucifix dating back to the early eighteenth century, testimony of a bright past that strongly contrasts with the modest current conditions, making it even more painful is the comparison between the present reality and the rich and important historical path of the ancient church. Its construction was started in 1599 by the confreres of the Congregation of Santa Maria del Pianto, "erected with the continuous and large alms of the citizens", whose Rules were approved by the Bishop of San Marco Argentano, Mons. Giovanni Girolamo Pisani, on November 14 of that year. 
• Castle (In the old part). Of Norman origin, but rebuilt by the Aragonese 
• Birthplace of San Daniele Fasanella. House of the city patron 
• Museum of Historical Memory “City of Belvedere Marittimo, Via Castel Ruggiero. There are reproductions conforming to the originals of the finds found in the city, made by the masters Pasquale Capano and Giuseppina Veneruso; the originals can still be found at the Civic Museum of Cosenza, in the deposits of the Museum of Reggio Calabria and in the warehouses of the excavation office of Sybaris.
