The coat of arms represents a T characteristic of the iconography of Saint-Antoine, patron saint of the parish. The hermit church has altar-pieces which are true Rococo jewels.

During the peasants' war in 1525, the inhabitants ofEpfig and of Dambach-la-Ville destroyed the monastery. The stones were subsequently used to build houses, but they were also used to build the fortified wall of Benfeld. The first constructions are attributed to the shepherds employed by the monks. Currently, the oldest houses in this wine village date from the mid-17th century.e century.
