The Vietnamese province Bến Tre is located in the Mekong Delta in the south of the country between two main arms of the river Tiền Giang. The province is criss-crossed by many canals and river arms. Intensive irrigation makes them one of the main rice producers in the country. On average, the province is just 1.25 meters above sea level.

The province exists alongside the independent one Bến Tre from the seven districts Ba tri, Bình Đại, Chau Thanh, Chợ Lách, Giồng Trôm, Mỏ Cày and Thonh Phu.

The entire province lies between the two main branches of the Tiền Giang River and can be reached by ferry or the Rạch Miễu Bridge from Mỹ Tho.
