The Lake Como is located in Italy and is one of the largest holiday areas in Northern Italy and at the same time, in addition to Lake Maggiore, one of the largest Northern Italian lakes.

The lake is divided into the middle part and its arms by its fjord-like Y-shape. The eponymous city of Como is at the end of the southwest arm, at the end of the southeast arm is Lecco and the northern arm begins at the city of Colico.

The mountain range is located near Lecco Monte Grigna with a height of 2412 meters and at the north end is the Monte Legnone with a height of 2619 meters.

The Y-shaped Lake Como is the third largest lake in Italy, it is also used by the locals Lario called. It is 146 square kilometers, 51 km long with a maximum width of 4.2 km. The shoreline is about 170 km long and near Nesso is the deepest point at 425 meters.

The lake is by the river Adda flowed through, it flows into the lake at Colico and leaves it again at Lecco. The Comer Arm has no drain.

Regular events

  • The Pesa Vegia, the Epiphany will take place on the night of January 5th to 6th in Bellano celebrated. The festival traditionally begins with a nativity play. There are only a few parking spaces, you should arrive by ship or use the shuttle service from Dervio.

A thermal wind blows almost every day on Lake Como Breva. The wind blows from around 10:00 in the morning and is still fresh in the afternoon. The summer months from June to September are ideal for windsurfing and kitesurfing. From October the Breva subsides and then falls asleep completely over the winter until the beginning of February.

The south wind Breva has its counterpart in the northerly downwind Tivanowhich is often even stronger than the Breva, especially in the Lecco region. In the southern part of the lake it also offers good surfing opportunities.
