The Dahme Lake District is one of 12 Brandenburger Travel regions and borders to the southeast Berlin. In this area you will find more than 70 lakes, medieval villages and towns and a lot of nature. It gets its name from the river Dahme received, which with its pearl necklace on lakes through the country to Spreewald extends.

1 Koenigs Wusterhausen is the most important and largest city in the region. It is known for the transmitter and radio technology museum on the Funkerberg as well as for the castle ensemble in the city center.

2 Bestensee is framed by several lakes and is a good starting point for exploring the region.

3 Heidesee, consisting of eleven districts, comprises the water and wooded area southeast of Königs Wusterhausen.

6 Teupitz is a small, pretty town on the lake, in the vicinity of which there are other interesting places such as Halbe and Groß Köris.

7 Zeuthen with the neighboring towns of Eichwalde, Schulzendorf and Wildau is close to the Berlin city limits and is very well connected to the capital.

The southern part of the Dahme Lake District is located in Dahme-Heideseen nature park. However, the nature park center is located in Storkow in the neighboring travel region Oder-Spree-Seengebiet.

getting there

The Dahme Lake District is easy to reach by car. The Berlin motorway ring (A10) and the Berlin-Dresden motorway (A13) run through it, and various junctions open up the area.

Train passengers use the regional express line RE2 to Königs Wusterhausen (journey time from Berlin Hbf: 34 min., Hourly) or the regional train lines RB24 and RB36, which also stop at various smaller stations.
