Finistère ' is a department in the French region Brittany and bears the serial number 29. In the east, the department borders on the départements Côtes-d’Armor and Morbihan and by the way to the Atlantic.

The official language is French, but many still use it here Breton spoken even though the number of native speakers is low. Some signs and place names are shown in two languages. UNESCO has classified the Breton language as a "Seriously Endangered Language".
getting there
Brest and Quimper have an airport and many cities have a rail link. Finistère can be easily reached by road. As in the rest of Brittany, all roads are toll-free.
mobility
The centers of Brest and Quimper are well supplied with public transport, the area can hardly be developed without private transport.

- Pointe de Corsen, at Plouarzel. The westernmost point of continental France.

Water sports of all kinds are widespread and there is a very large offer for sailors, surfers, etc.
kitchen
There is an abundance of seafood of all kinds, mostly freshly prepared in the Breton way, i.e. butter is rarely far away. There are also meat products, often from regional cattle and pigs. Vegetables, and grain products, also play a big role.
nightlife
Except in Brest or Quimper there is hardly any nightlife worth mentioning, but that is not the reason why you do not come here. Or you go to Fest-Noz, a nightly celebration, which is formative for the culture, the togetherness and the socialization of the youth.

From B&B to very posh hotels, there is a sufficient range of accommodations that are rarely fully booked, even in the season.

Uncritical.
climate
Mild and maritime, very humid. Almost always windy to stormy on the coasts. Here the westerly wind breaks ashore for the first time. This must be taken into account when choosing clothes; something windproof should always be with you.
