What see

  • 1 Parish church of Santo Stefano in Tegurio. The parish church of Santo Stefano in Tegurio falls within the number of churches built by the Empress Galla Placidia, who lived in Ravenna between 425 and 450.
Mentioned for the first time in the deed of donation to the diocese of Ravenna in 963, the church has undergone several alterations. The first restoration radically changed its appearance, transforming it into a Baroque style building. : The extension of the choir led to the demolition of the apse. The church was then lengthened by nine meters.
In 1823 the façade was also restored in Baroque style; with such appearance the parish remained until 1944, when the Germans mined the bell tower which collapsed. The explosion of mines also led to the demolition of the apse and the choir.
The reconstruction of the parish church dates back to 1948, when the church was returned to its primary forms, ie proto-Romanesque, in the wake of Ravenna's exarchal or Deutero-Byzantine architecture. The primitive church is usually dated to the 9th century, but its foundation is prior to the 5th - 6th century.
The northern side is the only part dating back to the foundation.
The sides of the building show pilasters and windows. The sloping facade has four pilasters to divide the three naves that make up the interior.
The apse was rebuilt by tracing its shape on the original foundations, in a heptagonal shape on the outside and circular inside with three small single-lancet windows. Above the entrance door stands a mullioned window. Inside, terracotta pillars form double ring vaults.
Although rebuilt, the parish church is a classic example of early Romanesque architecture,
The square bell tower, completely rebuilt in exposed brickwork on the same site as the previous one, was given a lower height to adapt it to the size of the church. It is decorated with mullioned windows and three-mullioned windows.
  • 2 Villa Ghigi, via Faentina Nord 297, 39 0546 681548, fax: 39 0546 681550. Built by an entrepreneur from Ravenna in the early 1800s, the villa is immersed in a park of centuries-old trees.
Elegant in appearance, it has had two restorations, the last of which has brought it back to its original appearance, after it had been abandoned.
Today Villa Ghigi is open to the public and hosts corporate events, weddings, parties and events in general.
  • Contemporary furniture museum, Strada San Vitale - former state road. Designed by the great architect Ettore Sottsass. Summarizes the history of furniture from 1880 to 1980;
