Kühlungsborn is a famous seaside resort on the Mecklenburg Baltic Sea coast and with over 3100 m it has the longest German beach promenade after the imperial baths Usedom. The place forms the heart of the "Mecklenburg Riviera".

By plane
The closest major airport is the Rostock Airport
(IATA: RLG), about 30 km south of Rostock. Also the Berlin Brandenburg Airport(IATA: BER) and the Hamburg Airport(IATA: HAM) come into consideration for traveling from more distant destinations.
By train
By train via Rostock to Bad Doberan. From there with the narrow-gauge railway "Molli" over the Baltic Sea Heiligendamm drive to Kühlungsborn. There are three stops in the town of Kühlungsborn: Kühlungsborn-Ost, -Mitte and -West (terminus of the railway line).
By bus
There are regular buses to / from Rostock and Bad Doberan.
In the street
Coming from the west take the A 20 motorway to the exit Kröpelin, from there (signposted) drive via Gerdshagen, Altenhagen, Kröpelin, Jennewitz to Kühlungsborn.
By boat
The next ferry port is Warnemünde. From there there are bus and train connections to Kühlungsborn.
By bicycle
The Baltic Sea Cycle Route runs through Kühlungsborn.

The narrow-gauge railway Molli has already been mentioned. As part of the Transport association Warnow the following bus lines operate:
- The bus route 103 runs from Rerik via Kühlungsborn and Reddelich Bad Doberan.
- Bus route 104 goes south via Kröpelin to Bad Doberan.
- The bus route 121 leads west to Rerik and east over Heiligendamm to Rostock.
There are at least seven bike rental stations, also for special models (four-seater etc.).

Small railway museum with an attached museum café. In summer, an open freight car in front of the cafe is equipped with tables and benches and serves as a veranda. A particularly interesting exhibit is the lengthways cut open original boiler of the steam locomotive 99.2323-6. - Early Gothic 2 Johanniskirche (13th century) in Kühlungsborn-Ost with a late Gothic triumphal cross group. The nave is made of field stones, the vaults, frames, windows and portals are made of bricks. The pulpit is from 1698.
- 240 m long 3 Pier in Kühlungsborn-Ost from 1991. Beautiful panoramic views of the Baltic Sea and the promenade.
- Second longest German Baltic sea promenade with a length of 3,200 m from Kühlungsborn-West to the harbor promenade in the Kühlungsborn boat harbor.
- 360 m long Harbor promenade between the stick anchor of the beach residence and the flood protection gates on the Deichschart to the forecourt of the boat harbor.
- 4 Baltic Sea Border Tower - Former watchtower of the border brigade coast of the border troops of the GDR in the immediate vicinity of the beach promenade, not far from the pier. The GDR border guards were given the task of observing ship movements on the Baltic Sea from the tower and identifying attempts to escape. There are two well-stocked Edeka markets with meat departments in the village, one is on Cubanzestrasse, the other on Reriker Strasse. Netto, Aldi, Norma and Lidl also offer their goods.

Cheap
Fish caught by the fisherman are prepared in the Fischkaten zur Maischolle, a restaurant in Cubanzestraße 1. There are Fed up with fish at really cheap prices. The guest gets a second until he is full.
The Wokking Asia Restaurant on Ostseeallee offers a lunch buffet all you can eat for € 6.50. The quality is attractive, but not outstanding. Anyone who just wants to eat Chinese quickly and cheaply is well served here.

American Steakhouse Rips and Bones, Ostseeallee. The steakhouse sells good, well-priced steaks, hamburgers and dishes that are expected in a steakhouse. The special menu, on which steaks of a special kind and origin are offered, is interesting, not cheap, but tasty. The service is friendly and courteous. Practical advice
A health resort tax is levied in Kühlungsborn for all guests, including day visitors. From May 1st to September 30th for adults it is € 2.00 / day, outside the summer season € 1.00 / day, reduced by half. Children and young people up to the age of 18 are free. Day visitors pay at machines on the promenade. The spa card is also valid in other Baltic seaside resorts in the Mecklenburg Bay (Boltenhagen to Graal-Müritz)!
