Krasiczyn is a historical place in Poland in the voivodeship Subcarpathian. The place is west of Przemyśl at the San and is known for its Mannerist castle.
background
The place was called Śliwnica in the 15th century. In 1525 he came to Jakub z Siecina, who made him his residence. His descendants called themselves Krasicki and so the place got its current name around 1602. The town received town charter in 1615. From 1724 the town came into the possession of the Tarło, later the Sapieha. After the First Partition of Poland in 1772, the place came successively to the Habsburgs and in 1867 to the K-and-K monarchy. After the First World War he became Polish again.
The castle already existed in the 15th century. From 1580 it was expanded in the Mannerist style by Galeazzo Appiani from Milan for Stanisław Krasicki. His son Marcin Krasicki continued the expansion until 1631. In 1724 the castle came to Jan Tarło, who led an anti-tsarist policy, so that the castle was sacked by Russian troops in 1726. From 1830 until the Second World War it belonged to the Sapieha. Cardinal Adam Stefan Sapieha, who was Archbishop of Krakow from 1911 to 1951, was born here. In 1939 the castle was sacked by Soviet troops. The restoration has been carried out since 1996. The castle can currently be visited. There is also a restaurant and a hotel in the castle.
