Culmsee

The Kulm-Dobrin Lake District (Polish Pojezierze Chełmińsko-Dobrzyńskie) is part of the Ice Age South Baltic Lake Districts and is in the north Poland. It becomes a historical region Kulmer Land in the west and Ermländer Oberland calculated in the east. The region is located in the southwest of the voivodeship Warmia-Masuria as well as north-east of the voivodeship Kuyavian Pomeranian. It borders on the lower in the west Vistula valley, in the north to the Eylauer Seenplatte and Masurian Lake District, in the east to Mazovian Depths and in the south to the Greater Poland Lake District.

From ancient times, Polish, German and Jewish influences mixed in the area. The numerous moraine hills are lower here than in Masuria. However, the Oberland is higher. The Kernsdorfer Höhe is the highest elevation in the region at 312 meters above sea level. There are numerous post-glacial lakes. In comparison to Suwałki Lake District however, the lakes are relatively shallow.

The lake district is shaped by hundreds of lakes and moraine hills from the Ice Age and is ideal for water sports. Many large lakes are connected to rivers, so that canoeists and sailors can practically find a network of many kilometers of waterways.
