Tourist Attractions

  • 1 St. Bartholomew - The church is mentioned in writing for the first time in the 12th century. In 1448 the church was added to the large west tower during renovation work. Among other things, the larger than life stone figure of St. Bartholomew from the 13th century is worth seeing.
  • 2 Old Town Hall
  • 3 St. Mary - Parts of the original church from 1448 can still be found today.
  • 4 Holsken Museum - This museum is entirely dedicated to the clog making trade. From the use of different materials to the living conditions of a traditional shoemaker family, the craft is completely illuminated.
  • 5 Cap windmill - This mill is on the town hall pond and is only used as a residential building today. The wind turbines can only be operated by an electric motor for illustrative purposes.
  • 6 Heidenbaum - This linden tree, which is over 500 years old, stands on a hill at the end of the village. The hill was used as a place of jurisdiction early on. Later this tree was used as a judicial linden tree as a place of jurisdiction. In 1990 the tree was badly damaged by a storm, so that today one speaks more of a tree ruin. Next to the tree is a stone cross, which reminds of the Christianization by the holy Ewalde.
  • 7 Oldenburg - Refuge from the 5th century AD. This was abandoned in the 12th century. The refuge has three defensive walls and a stone tower used to stand in the middle.
