Mezzola lake is located in Lombardy.

To know

It is located north of the Lake Como, from which it is separated by the last course of the Mera river which flows in the western part of the Pian of Spain, last plateau of the Valtellina. About 20% of Lake Como's waters come from this lake.

Flora and fauna

Lake Mezzola is populated by numerous fish species including lake trout, whitefish, agone, pike, perch, sun perch, chub, pigo, rudd, roach, vairone, bleak, minnow, carp and tench, zander, burbot and eel, rare savette and barbel, grayling.

It is also a point of interest for birdwatching given the considerable amount of water birds and waders that populate its banks.

By plane

By car

State road 38a leads from Lecco at the northern end of the Lake Como. Here the SS36 branches off towards Chiavenna, which divides you into the SS37 through the Spluga Pass and the SS36 through the Maloja Pass. Chiavenna can be reached quickly from Lake Constance through the Switzerland up to Splügen and then via the Splugen Pass.

On the train
