Mamoiada is a center of the Sardinia eastern, in the province of Nuoro.

Mamoiada is located in the historical subregion of Barbagia of Ollolai and borders on Fonni, Gavoi, Nuoro, Ollolai, Orani, Orgosolo is Sarule.

Background

Mamoiada has two famous traditional costumes: Mamuthones and Issohadores. Here also originates a Sardinian dance called "Su Passu Torràu", widespread throughout Sardinia.

By plane

From the following airports it is possible, thanks to several car rental companies present, to rent a car to reach Mamoiada.

By car

  • From Alghero, follow the signs for Sassari and take the Provincial Road 42 of the two seas, then arrived at a roundabout, always follow the signs for Sassari and take the SS 291 della Nurra. Arrived near Sassari, follow the signs for Cagliari and take the state road 131 Carlo Felice and follow it until the exit Nuoro - Macomer, and then take the state road 129 Trasversale Sarda Macomer - Nuoro. Then take the exit Nuoro Highway - Olbia and take the state road 131 D.C.N. up to the main entrance of Nuoro. Do not enter the city but follow the signs for Tortolì and take the State Road 389 Var Nuoro-Lanusei, then, after 10.4 km, take the exit for Mamoiada to arrive at your destination.
  • From Sassari is Porto Torres take the state road 131 Carlo Felice up to the exit Nuoro - Macomer, and then take the state road 129 Trasversale Sarda Macomer - Nuoro. Then take the exit Nuoro Highway - Olbia and take the state road 131 D.C.N. up to the main entrance of Nuoro. Do not enter the city but follow the signs for Tortolì and take the State Road 389 Var Nuoro-Lanusei, then, after 10.4 km, take the exit for Mamoiada to arrive at your destination.
  • From Cagliari is Oristano take the state road 131 Carlo Felice to the Nuoro exit - Olbia, where the state road 131 D.C.N starts, take the latter up to the main entrance of Nuoro. Do not enter the city but follow the signs for Tortolì and take the State Road 389 Var Nuoro-Lanusei, then, after 10.4 km, take the exit for Mamoiada to arrive at your destination.
  • From Golfo Aranci, Olbia is Siniscola take the state road 131 D.C.N. up to the main entrance of Nuoro. Do not enter the city but follow the signs for Tortolì and take the State Road 389 Var Nuoro-Lanusei, then, after 10.4 km, take the exit for Mamoiada to arrive at your destination.
  • From Tortolì take the State Road 198 of Seui and Lanusei, then, after 2 km, follow the signs for Nuoro and turn right onto the provincial road 27, arrived at Villagrande Strisaili, turn left, always following the signs for Nuoro, then take the state road 389 Var Nuoro-Lanusei and follow it to the "Mamoiada-Fonni" exit. Take the former State Road 389 of "Buddusò e del Correboi" up to Mamoiada.
  • From Lanusei take State Road 198 of Seui and Lanusei, then follow the signs for Nuoro and turn right onto State Road 389 of Buddusò and Correboi which after about 10 becomes State Road 389 var Nuoro-Lanusei, follow the latter until the exit "Mamoiada-Fonni". Take the former State Road 389 of "Buddusò e del Correboi" up to Mamoiada.

On boat

From the ports of Olbia- White Island, Golfo Aranci is Tortolì-Arbatax or also from the ports of Porto Torres is Cagliari.

By bus

There line 302 from Nuoro to Tortolì and vice versa and the line 506 from Belvì to Nuoro and vice versa, both from Arst, make stops in Mamoiada.

  • 10 Domus de Janas Istevene. Complex of six tombs excavated on a rocky buttress, datable to 3200-2800 BC.
  • In the surrounding countryside there are also scattered nuraghi and domus de janas.
