The North Vietnamese Province Ninh Bình is a narrow strip around the Red River Delta. There is a narrow stretch of coast to the Gulf of Tonkin.

The province is known for the "Dry Halong Bay" a unique karst landscape. It offers some well-known travel and excursion destinations. In contrast to Halong Bay, there are rice fields between the rock formations. And in these rice fields there are a multitude of old graves.
