Cities

  • 1 Alta  – The Alta rock art site, dating from the period between -4200 and -500 and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985.
  • 2 Bodø  – The town is the terminus of the Norwegian northbound rail network, the Nordlandsbanen
  • 3 Harstad
  • 4 Mo i Rana  – The city is located at the end of the Ranfjord, just below the Arctic Circle. Its surroundings are dotted with caves, of which the Grønligrotta is undoubtedly the most famous.
  • 5 Narvik  – Located 220 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, Narvik is one of the northernmost cities on the planet
  • 6 Svolvær  – This small town of roughly 4,000 inhabitants is the preferred starting point for tourists visiting the northern Norwegian islands.
  • 7 Tromsø  – City nicknamed "the Paris of the North" by the Norwegian.
  • 8 Hammerfest  – Hammerfest is the northernmost city in the world. A boat trip to the North Cape is organized daily.
  • 9 Kirkenes  – The last town before the Russian border (60 km).

Other destinations

  • 1 Lofoten Islands  – Archipelago located north of the Arctic Circle but the summers and winters are particularly mild compared to the latitude. The setting of the Lofoten Islands has earned them a regular feature in various charts of the most beautiful islands in the world.
  • 2 Vesterålen  – islands north of Lofoten. They are wilder and more wooded

  • 4 Nordkapp  – The name of the village where the North Cape is located, often described as the northernmost point in Europe, although this actually corresponds to Knivskjellodden, 1.5 kilometers further north.
