The nearest airports with regular scheduled traffic are the airports Hanover and Dusseldorf. Closer, but with a very limited selection, is that Paderborn Lippstadt Airport (about 45 kilometers south of Oerlinghausen), which can be reached via the A 33.
The Oerlinghausen airfield is preferably reserved for glider operations. In contrast to a commercial landing site, only the operator and, on request, third parties may take off and land on this special landing site.
By train
The train station is located in the neighboring district of Asemissen in the municipality Leopoldshöhe. This stop on the Begatalbahn, historically known as “Oerlinghausen station”, is the end point of bus route 39 (Oerlinghausen Mitte - Südstadt). It is delivered every hour, every two hours on Sundays, by the Regional Express "The linen weaver“ (Altenbeken–) Detmold–location–Bielefeld and further as a regional train to Muenster as well as from the RB 73 Lemgo–Location – Bielefeld and further to Herford–Rahden served.

By bus
moBiel offers bus connections with lines 34, 38 and 39 to Bielefeld. The BVO takes the 931 to Asemissen.
In the street
The city center of Oerlinghausen is about eight kilometers from the A 2 and about six kilometers from the A 33. The tunnel road (L 751n) was built in 1998 as a bypass road, which directs traffic through a 492 meter long tunnel through Menkhauser Berg west of the city center, thereby relieving the traffic.

It's easy to get around on foot within Oerlinghausen, the sidewalks are in good condition. If you don't like walking along the road, you can often avoid quiet paths between fields or in the woods.
Cycling is not a problem, but you should watch out for lush vegetation in summer. Most places in the Oerlinghausen district can be reached by bus lines 34 and 39.
