Opi is a city of Marsica, subregion ofAbruzzo.
To know
The medieval village is immersed in the full protected area of National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise. It is part of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Opi is a well-known tourist center, located 7 kilometers from the Macchiarvana cross-country ski tracks.
Geographical notes
The town is located on the border of Marsica with the high Sangro and the Cinque Miglia plateau, along the mountain range of the Marsicani mountains in the middle of a mountainous amphitheater formed to the north-east by Mount Marsicano (2,245 meters above sea level) and to the south- east from Mount Amaro (1,862 m) and Mount Petroso (2,249 m). Numerous paths that from Opi reach the areas of naturalistic and environmental interest such as the Fondillo valley, the Macchiarvana plateau, Forca d'Acero, located on the border between Abruzzo and Lazio and the Camosciara, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the park.
When to go
Lovers of winter sports, especially cross-country skiing, frequent the medieval village especially in winter. Here in winter the snow always falls abundantly. Opi is a tourist destination even in summer and at all times of the year thanks to the numerous cultural initiatives, the naturalistic and architectural beauties and the numerous cycle and pedestrian paths it offers. The town has several accommodation facilities.

By car
Opi can be reached from Marsica fucense (exit of Pescina of the A25 motorway) and from the lower Sangro through the Strada Statale 83 Marsicana which crosses the Abruzzo National Park. Secondary logins come from Cocullo (exit of the A25 motorway) through the Sannite state road 479 passing through the Valle del Sagittario e Scanno-Passo Godi, and from the Lazio region through the Forca d'Acero pass and the homonymous State Road 509.

From the A25 highway Rome-Torano-Pescara exit at Pescina and take the Strada Statale 83 Marsicana that it crosses Pescasseroli, Opi and the other localities of the national park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise.
