Ottrott is a French commune, located in the department of Bas-Rhin and the Alsace region. Ottrott is located approximately 30 km southwest of Strasbourg.

  • Mont Sainte-Odile  – It was during the Merovingian period that Sainte-Odile, daughter of Duke Adalric, founded a monastery on this site, which had been occupied since prehistoric times. In the Middle Ages, the monastery was destroyed and then rebuilt by the Abbess Herrade of Landsberg who made up the "Hortus Deliciarum", a sort of Christian encyclopedia. Ravaged or desecrated over the centuries, Mont Sainte-Odile became the property of the Bishop of Strasbourg in 1853.
  • Pagan wall  – Enigmatic enclosure built according to specialists by the Celts, the Pagan Wall extends over more than 10 km and encloses an area of 100 Ha around Mont Sainte-Odile. The wall, made up of large blocks of stone, has still 10 foot height in places and a thickness of 2 m.
  • Windeck Estate  – All the inhabitants of the region know the castle and the park which are at the junction of Ottrott-le-Bas and Ottrott-le-Haut. On the other hand, few are those who are informed of the history of this house and of the botanical richness that its park conceals. The property, known as "du Windeck", is a former seigneury. Behind the castle, whose entrance opens onto the rue Principale of the village, we discover a magnificent park. Spread over an area of ​​11 hectares, the layout of this park, with the judicious arrangement of its vegetation, its studied perspectives, its multi-storey basins, the harmonious design of its paths, forms a marvelous whole.
  • Birkenfels Castle  – The Birkenfels is a small residential castle (XIII ° sc) with a main building on three levels, pierced with loopholes with niches and large windows.
  • Aquarium `Les Naïades`  – The theme of Les Naïades park in Ottrott is the water cycle. From underground water to the return to the sea, the visitor makes amazing encounters with piranhas, sharks, crocodiles, turtles and thousands of other fish with strange shapes and colors. The farm, which is both recreational and educational, presents dwarf animals and is a delight for young and old.

Ottrott is the starting point for many hiking routes marked out by the Club Vosgien towards the Vosges mountains with, among others, the hunters trail, the pilgrims trail and the trail of wonders.

  • The Trail of Wonders  – This trail runs along for nearly 400 m the Rock of the Giants. Along the way, you will encounter the "Fontaine Lucie", a miraculous spring springing from a rock whose water flows through a stone gutter. Many animal sculptures made with chainsaws also line the trail.
