The place Reinswald (Italian: San Martino in Sarentino) is in Durnholz Valley in the Sarntal Alps in South-Tirol and is known for its small ski area.

Reinswald is located at the confluence of the Getrum valley in the Durnholz valley and already a little above the valley floor on the eastern side of the valley. In the valley floor of the Durnholz Valley is the hamlet of Unterreinswald, a little further up the valley (north) and also on the eastern side of the valley is the hamlet of Hinterreinswald.

From an administrative point of view, Reinswald and its hamlets are part of the town Sarnthein.

By plane

The nearest airport is that of Bolzano (www.abd-airport.it), other airports are located in Verona, in innsbruck (approx. 2 hours by car) and in Munich (approx. 3-4 hours by car).

By train

There is no rail connection in the Sarntal itself.

The next train stations are in Sterzing and Bolzano, they are a station for Intercity and Eurocity trains (train timetables under www.trenitalia.com).

In the street

  • Of north or south via the Innsbruck-Brenner-Brixen-Bozen-Trient motorway (A 13 - Brenner motorway, in Italy A 22) to Bolzano, from here through Bozen into the Sarntal and via Sarntheim to Astfeld, there branch into the Durnholzer Tal and after approx. 5 kilometers branch to Reinswald.
  • in the summer Access to the Sarntal valley from the north is also possible via the Penser Joch (2781m, closed in winter) Sterzing possible.
