Safety

As reported by the site Safe travel in the region the situation remains particularly unstable, with continuous violations of the ceasefire regime established by the agreements reached in Minsk. Clashes and artillery strikes are reported daily in various inhabited centers in the area, with victims also among civilians. Armed clashes are now sporadic but continuous and have so far caused a humanitarian emergency characterized by a very high number of refugees. There are numerous infrastructures in Lugansk that are severely damaged and there are serious shortages in the provision of essential services.

In the areas affected by the clashes, episodes of arrest and detention by anti-government militiamen against journalists, foreign citizens, security forces and international monitoring missions (especially OSCE ones) continue to occur. normal consular assistance is difficult.

Therefore, it is currently strongly discouraged to travel to the country since in the event of diplomatic-judicial assistance, it will be almost impossible to receive it from Italy.
