Donetsk People's Republic (Донецкая Народная Республика in Russian, Донецька Народна Республіка in Ukrainian) is a self-proclaimed state with limited recognition that overlooks the Black Sea and the Azov Sea and borders the Lugansk People's Republic, the Russia and theUkraine.
IS de facto dependent on Russian Federation.

Geographical notes
The Donetsk People's Republic, which declared itself independent ofUkraine, corresponds to a part of theEastern Ukraine (67% of Donetsk Oblast).
Background
Starting in March 2014 they started in the east ofUkraine protest actions against the new government that took office a Kiev following the events of Euromaidan. The demonstrators did not recognize its legitimacy and demanded the federalization of the country. On 6 April the palaces of the Regional Councils of Donetsk Oblast, Luhans'k is Kharkiv they were occupied by pro-Russian separatists. The following day, the birth of the Donetsk People's Republic was proclaimed and subsequently a People's Council and a temporary government were formed.
On April 12, the DPO extended its control to Slov "jans'k, Mariupol ', Jenakijeve, Kramators'k and other smaller towns, while armed clashes between the Ukrainian army and the Donbass People's Militia intensified. On 11 May, referendums were held for the independence of the Donetsk People's Republic and the Lugansk People's Republic, which was proclaimed the next day. The two republics on May 24 signed a union agreement within the Federation of New Russia, a project that would be shelved a year later.
During the summer, Ukrainian soldiers regained control of Slov "jans'k, Mariupol 'and Kramators'k, while the RPD consolidated its position in the capital and gained access to the sea by taking control of Novoazvosk and many centers of the rajon Novoazovskij, Starobeševskij and Ambrosievskij.
With the protocol of Minsk of 5 September 2014 and the subsequent Minsk II of 12 February 2015 ceasefires were envisaged which, although frequently violated, reduced the intensity of the conflict, which subsequently entered a stalemate.
Spoken languages
The official language would be the language Ukraine, but traditionally the most spoken language is the Russian.
According to a census ofUkraine on mother tongues, in Donetsk Oblast, 52% speak Russian, 34% speak suržik (a mixed dialect between Russian and Ukrainian) and 14% speak Ukrainian. However, the Ukrainian language is known by 91% of the population.

The Oblast had an airport, theDonetsk Sergei Prokofiev International Airport which, however, was completely destroyed in 2014 during the war, making any air connection with the nation impossible.

There RPD is an unstable state, foreigners who have visited theUkraine they can be suspected of espionage and many times therefore controlled by local soldiers and in some cases even kidnapped (to date it has only happened to some journalists).
