The national currency is the East Caribbean dollar (XCD). This same currency is used by all states belonging to theOrganization of Eastern Caribbean States (Organization of Eastern Caribbean States - OECS): Eel, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia is Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The exceptions are British Virgin Islands adopting the US dollar.

It has been linked since 1976 by a fixed exchange rate to the US dollar, equal to US $ 1 = 2.70 XCD. Each dollar is divided into 100 cents. The denominations of the banknotes in circulation are 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 EC $. While the coin denominations are 1, 2, 5, 10 and 25 cents and 1 EC $.

The East Caribbean dollar is also accepted in the French Antilles (Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint-Martin) next to the Euro and in some islands of the Dutch Caribbean (Sint Eustatius, Saba, Sint Maarten).
