Schluechtern is a small town in Main-Kinzig district in Hesse. The city lies in the upper Kinzig valley between Vogelsberg, Spessart and Rhön.

Schlüchtern is a state-approved climatic health resort. Due to its location, the climate in Schlüchtern is significantly cooler than in the Rhine-Main area, for example. Schlüchtern still includes 12 formerly independent villages that were incorporated as part of the community reforms of the 1970s.

Schlüchtern can look back on a long history, for example there was a very important monastery here in the Middle Ages. Many buildings from this period have been preserved to this day.
