The Main-Kinzig district is a district in Hesse. The district is located in the Kinzig valley, the eponymous river Kinzig flows from east to west through the region. Along the river there are mostly meadows and fields that serve as flood plains during floods. The Kinzig valley is surrounded by larger forests.

By plane
In Gelnhausen there is a commercial airfield. The nearest airport is that Frankfurt Airport, this is easy to reach by public transport (Kinzigtalbahn to Frankfurt main station, then continue with the S-Bahn to Frankfurt airport regional train station or from Hanau with the ICE to Frankfurt airport long-distance train station).
With public transport
The Kinzigtalbahn Frankfurt-Fulda runs through the district. IC train stations are in Hanau and Schluechtern. Long-distance buses stop in Frankfurt and then continue by train.

There is WiFi at the ticket machines of the RMV, but there is currently no WiFi on the regional trains (as of January 2021).
By bicycle
The Hessian long-distance cycle route R3 runs from west to east through the district area. Furthermore, there is a Vogelsberger Südbahnradweg Connection to the Volcano cycle path.

Larger events include the Strong Viking Run in Wächtersbach, the Kinzigtal Total Cyclist Sunday, the starting in Gelnhausen, the program of events relating to the trade fair Waechtersbach, as well as the Barbarossamarkt in Gelnhausen.
The Main-Kinzig-Fulda cultural summer offers a wide range of diverse cultural events such as theater, concerts, etc.

In Biebergemünd-Rossbach, the Biebergrund Bike 6.3, previously known as the Biebergrund Bike Marathon, takes place every year. The Vogelsberger Südbahnlauf takes place once a year on the Vogelsberger Südbahnradweg.

Clubs or discos are only in the cities Hanau and Gründau to find. Due to the good transport links to Frankfurt am Main and Fulda it is also possible to visit larger discos. Bars and pubs, on the other hand, are much more common in the smaller towns.
And since it now seems to be in again and is becoming more and more popular: In Hanau there is a roller skate and inline disco.

Gymnasiums (secondary level II) are located in Hanau, Schlüchtern and Gelnhausen. All schools in the Main-Kinzig district have broadband access. The nearest universities are in Frankfurt, Fulda, Aschaffenburg and Friedberg. The next university is in Frankfurt. The grammar schools, the universities and the Goethe University in Frankfurt can be easily reached by public transport via the Kinzig Valley Railway.

The climate cannot be precisely defined due to the size of the region. In the east of the region, the winters and summers are on average somewhat cooler than in the west of the region. The Fulda region, which lies in the eastern neighborhood, is therefore sometimes pejoratively referred to as Hessian Siberia.
