At 764 m it is Hoherodskopf the most famous "peak" in the Vogelsberg. Summer toboggan run, treetop path, restaurants, ski lifts, cross-country trails and the information center of the nature park make the mountain the first point of contact for visitors to the Hohe Vogelberg. The telecommunications tower is a landmark that can be seen from afar, so that the mountain attracts travelers' attention from afar.

Public transport
From May 1st to the end of October there is an exemplary network of leisure bus routes (with bike transport) on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The different lines meet in a star shape at the Hoherodskopf. For more information see: RMV - Vogelsberger Vulkan-Express

On the Hoherodskopf, the common stop offers transfer options between the different lines.
In winter it is unfortunately not so easy to get to the Hoherodskopf by public transport, but at least it is possible. To do this, you first have to come to Nidda train station and change there to line 362 (only runs in winter!) To Schotten. There you have to call the taxi: 06044 2244 (60 minutes before departure). The VB-60 line picks you up from the Schotten Vulkaneum terminus and drives up to the Hoherodskopf. However, the ride is only every two hours, the last departure from Hoherodskopf is at 6 p.m.

In the street
For the long journey see Bulkheads. From Schotten you have to go up to Breungeshain and then onto the road to Hoherodskopf (is signposted). Snow chains are advisable in the winter months, even if the road is actually cleared regularly, you can never be sure.
Unfortunately, the longing for more income in the city coffers has also reached the Hoherodskopf: the large car park directly at the summit and the car park at the Taufsteinhütte are now available charges apply. Parking on the access roads to the Hoherodskopf (semi-legal, tolerated in practice) and parking at the hiking car parks on the Hohen Vogelsberg are also free of charge, from where you have a short or long walk ahead of you. Travelers with motorcycles can continue to park for free in the large car park.

The is a beautiful, varied route Höhenweg through the Oberwald. The route is marked with small signs showing a green "H" on white green. The circular hiking trail of around 2 1/2 hours begins at the Hoherodskopf. He opens up that Baptismal font (highest Vogelsberg summit with observation tower, the Hostage stone (The rock cliff is completely ingrown by the forest and therefore offers no view. The rock of the cliff is magnetic, by the way) Breungeshainer Moor (the only moor of the Vogelsberg), the Nidda springas well as the trout ponds. As mentioned above, the Hoherodskopf is the star point of the leisure bus routes in the Vogelsberg. There are numerous tour options from the Hoherodskopf (Day tours) for departure to:

- - or via the volcano cycle path to the Wetterau to Altenstadt, if you are sporty you can continue cycling on the high road to Frankfurt,
- - or about the Vogelsberger Südbahnradweg to WaechtersbachFor an attractive end of the tour, you can continue your journey on the Hess. Long-distance cycle route R 3 bis Gelnhausen at.
- On the Hoherodskopfsteig to Bulkheads. Then over the Hess. Long-distance cycle route R 4 bis Nidda. Here rail connection direction Friedberg, to water and Gelnhausen.
- On the connecting route to Ulrichstein - From the Hoherodskopf a signposted path leads right past the baptismal font to the "Sieben Ahorn". Shortly before Ulrichstein you come across the long-distance cycle paths R4 and R7. The path has almost only a medium gradient. From Ulrichstein you can get to the starting point on the R4.
