Schaffhausen is a city of Northeastern Switzerland.
To know
Its main tourist attraction is the Rhine Falls, the largest waterfalls in Europe which however are located in the neighboring city of Neuhausen.
Geographical notes
It is a city in northeastern Switzerland on the Rhine River, in a strip of territory wedged within the near German border.
Background
Schaffhausen is also a city canton which joined the Swiss Confederation in 1501. It is the northernmost canton of Switzerland and is primarily agricultural land.
In 1944 Schaffhausen was bombed by the United States Air Force, killing 40 people - it was later determined that the daylight attack was an accident, due to a navigational error.

How to get
By car
From Zurich: take the A4 / E41 northbound, it will lead directly into the city. Be careful because you need a vignette for all Swiss motorways.

- 4 Schaffhausen station (Bahnhof Schaffhausen). From Zurich Hbf there is an hourly suburban S-Bahn train, line S16, travels to Thayngen, stopping among others at Winterthur and taking 57 minutes to Schaffhausen. A single ticket costs Fr.9.30; however, if you have a Zurich daily / monthly / annual pass for all zones, this is reduced to Fr. 3.60.
- The city can also be reached from Germany along the line from Ulm passes by the resorts on Lake Constance such as Friedrichshafen (1 hour by direct train). Although it is in Switzerland, the city is included in the ticket Baden-Württemberg.
By bus

How to get around
You can get around by local buses, however the old town is so small that you can walk around (besides the fact that it is a pedestrian area).
By public transport
The bus they run every 20 minutes, at peak times every 10 minutes. For Fr. 5 you can get a "Tageskarte" which allows you to use all buses for a whole day.
By bike
Traveling by bike is very common as the city is well equipped with dedicated cycle paths and stopping points.
What see
The only real attraction of the city is the Old Town baroque.
