Geographical notes
The real attraction of Serra, in addition to the places of San Bruno, are the natural beauties. The municipality is characterized by the presence of numerous plant species among which the most common are: beech, chestnut and silver fir, with specimens of gigantic, centuries-old plants, which form a very dense forest mantle. those of the great Bosco di Archiforo, and those of the Bosco di Santa Maria. The wooded area, which is part of the Serre Regional Natural Park, is crossed by the "Sentiero Frassati". Another place of naturalistic interest is also the locality Rosarella, famous for its small lake.

Background
The first houses of what would become the town were built to house the workers who worked for the monks of the Charterhouse of Santo Stefano and for the hermitage of Santa Maria at the behest of the founder, San Bruno, who had obtained from the Norman count Ruggero of Altavilla the land for its monastic foundations. The presence of the Charterhouse has enormously influenced the architectural development of the town, in fact the presence of craftsmen, wood artists, blacksmiths and decorators was well known.
