gap is a city in Middle Franconian district Roth, in the Franconian Lake District. As the center of a historically significant hop growing area (Spalter hop country) and the location of the last municipal brewery in Germany, Spalt advertises with the title City of hops and beer.

The history of the town of Spalt goes back to the St. Salvator Monastery, which was first mentioned in a document in 810. In 2010 the city's anniversary “1200 years of gap” was celebrated.

getting there

By plane

It takes about 60 minutes to drive to Nuremberg Airport.

By train

The train station is about 8 km away Georgensgmünd on the Nuremberg-Augsburg railway line.

In the street

The gap is almost exactly in the middle between the main road B466 and the federal highway B2 and is with both of them through the state road L 2223 connected.

By bicycle

A runs through the gap cycle paththat of Reichswald Nuremberg to the Brombachsee leads.

Despite regular bus connections to the surrounding area, the car is the most important means of transport in Spalt.

The former Spalt-Georgensgmünd railway line has been converted into a planetary path for cyclists. From Georgensgmünd, cycle paths continue to follow Roth.

At the Kornhaus (Herrengasse 10) and the local EDEKA branch (Rother Strasse 6) there are e-bike charging stations.

  • In July, the open-air theater in the Bürgergarten takes place on 3 weekends Spalter Midsummer Night Games instead of.
