Steinheid is a small resort near the Rennsteig in the eastern Thuringian Forest. The mountain town located at an altitude of 800 m has guaranteed snow in winter and is therefore a great destination for fans of Nordic skiing. In summer, on the other hand, the pleasant mountain climate invites you to hike through the vast forests. Incidentally, Steinheid is known as the place where the Thuringian Christmas tree decorations are made.

Steinheid lies by the commercial airports Leipzig, Nuremberg and Frankfurt each a good 200 km or three hours away. The closer one Erfurt regional airport has only charter flights.

In the street

Leave the Autobahn 73 (Suhl - Bamberg) at junction no. 5 "Eisfeld-Nord". Then follow the federal road 281 towards Neuhaus am Rennweg. After about 19 km, the B 281 reaches the ridge of the Thuringian Forest. Steinheid has been reached.
