That is not far from Masserberg Goldisthal pumped storage plant. Goldisthal is one of the largest pumped storage power plants in Europe. The power plant can by appointment can be visited.
Other destinations in the area are (distances by car):
- Ice field (18 km south) - Museum of the South Thuringian porcelain industry from the 18th century to the present day.
- Oberweißbach (23 km northeast) - state-approved resort above the Schwarza Valley; Oberweißbacher Bergbahn.
- Neuhaus am Rennweg (24 km to the east) - spa and winter sports resort and also located on the Rennsteig. After approx. 4.5 km on the route you come to the Werra spring, where you can also stop for refreshments.
