Geographical notes
The territory of the city is very small, given its extension of only 3.59 km². This territory is divided into two distinct areas: the upper part, built overlooking the sea with a height ranging from 50 to 60 meters above sea level, where most of the daily activities of the city take place, and the lower part, "La Marina ", which develops in the coastal area. It has been proclaimed Borgo dei Borghi 2021.

The city is a typically seaside destination, therefore the most favorable period for a tourist sortie is between May and October.

By plane
The closest and best connected airport to Tropea is that of Lamezia Terme, about 60 km away; alternatively it is possible to arrive via the airport of Reggio Calabria which is 100 km away.
By car
Generally coming from the north, or in particular from the airport of Lamezia Terme, it is necessary to take the A3 and exit at Pizzo (35 km) along the SS522 towards Tropea.
Generally coming from the south, or in particular from the airport of Reggio Calabria, it is necessary to take the A3 and exit at the Rosarno toll booth (46 km) towards Nicotera / Tropea.
The city has a recently built marina, from which links to the Aeolian Islands.
On the train
Tropea has its own railway station, 350 m from the historic center, which connects the city to Lamezia Terme is Rosarno via regional trains.
