Viechtach is a city in Lower Bavaria part of Bavarian Forest.

The town of Viechtach is located on a bend in the valley of the Black Rain and on the pile (a geological peculiarity, a quartz dike that extends from Nabburg to Passau through the Bavarian forest pulls).
One for whom Bavarian forest, The locals express a very mild climate with the saying "Vejda lies aaf da Höll" (Viechtach lies on Hell).

In the street
With the Autobahn 3 and A 92 bis Deggendorf. There you can either take the B11 / B85 via Patersdorf to Viechtach, or you can use the A 93. From Schwandorf can be reached via the B85 (partially expanded to 4 lanes) Cham to Viechtach.
By train
Passenger traffic is taking place again on the railway line to Viechtach. The next train stations are in Gotteszell (Plattling-Bavarian Eisenstein) and Cham.

Buildings
1 Glass barn, Rauhbühl 3 94234 Viechtach (around 3 km east of the city). A special kind of art object, created by the artist Rudolf Schmid, who transformed an old barn into a total work of art. I six large glass walls with over 200 square meters of painted glass surface they tell the story of the regional prophet "Mühlhiasl".
Castles
2 Neunussberg castle ruins (at the place Nussberg east of Viechtach). The castle was built in 1309 by Konrad the Nussberger on a 696 m high hilltop above the Regental, the builder belonged to one of the most influential noble families in the Bavarian Forest. In 1564, a lightning strike destroyed parts of the castle, which then fell into disrepair with the extinction of the noble line.
