Vöhl is a national park community in the holiday region Edersee. The district of Herzhausen with the train station is the western gateway to the region.
background
The community is located on the western lake area. This is also where de begins Kellerwald-Edersee National Park. The new national park center has made Herzhausen famous since 2008.
The community consists of more than 10 districts: Asel, Basdorf, Buchenberg, Dorfitter, Ederbringhausen, Harbshausen, Herzhausen, Kirchlotheim, Marienhagen, Niederorke, Obernburg, Oberorke, Schmittlotheim, Thalitter and Vöhl (seat of the municipal administration)

By train
The district of Herzhausen is on the railway line Warburg–Sarnau (KBS 622), which is managed by the Kurhessenbahn (R42Brilon–Marburg (Lahn)) is driven on. Since reactivation of the railway line between Korbach and Frankenberg (Eder) In September 2015, the train no longer stops at the old station south of Herzhausen, but at the new one 1 Vöhl-Herzhausen stop directly on the outskirts. - Swimming lake at the Teichmann campsite - the smaller lake is independent of the water level of the Edersee.
- Bike tours z. B. around the Edersee
- The district road K 59 has only moderate traffic and is well suited for a small tour up to 2 Asel-South or even further. There is a particularly beautiful stretch of shore between Asel-Süd and Bringhausen (on gravel forest roads). Then you are already in the middle of it Kellerwald-Edersee National Park.
- Hikes in the national park - A nice destination for a short hike is z. B. the 1 Hagenstein. From the rocky hilltop with dry oak forest, also known as the "Loreley der Eder", you have a nice view of the Eder, which is 100 m below. Location: about 3 km southeast of the village near Kirchlothheim.
