The Swiss Autobahn 1 (A 1) is the longest motorway in Switzerland. It starts in St. Margrethenwhere the one from the Rhine ValleyAutobahn 13 merges into it a few meters from the border Austria, and runs in a southwesterly direction through the Swiss plateau and the centers St. Gallen, Winterthur, Zurich past the foot of the Swiss Jura and along it until shortly before Solothurn, leaves the foot of the Jura again and runs through the federal city Bern and that located on the language border Murten to Yverdon and further into the area of Lausanne. From there it follows the northwest bank of the Geneva lake, bypasses the city Geneva (Genève) in the west and joins the French Autoroute 41 on the Swiss-French border Annecy.
The total length of the motorway, including the double guides with other motorways, is around 410 km.
The description is contrary to the kilometers and the counting of the exits!
