Bönnigheim is a city in the area Stromberg in Baden-Wuerttemberg.

Bönnigheim is located in the Ludwigsburg district on the southern edge of the Stromberg. The formerly independent communities Hofen and Hohenstein belong to the city.

The place was first mentioned in 793 in the Lorsch Codex, at that time it belonged to the Lorsch Monastery. After 1288 it was first owned by the Habsburgs, later a community of heirs, so-called Ganerbe, owned until 1750. The castle of this owner is one of the sights today as a ruin of the Ganerbe castle.

Bönnigheim has been part of Württemberg since 1785.

  • The 1 Cyriacus Church in the late Gothic style. Special feature: the Rood screen, the carved High age. More of a curiosity: a panel painting of the Barbara Schmotzerin. She lived in the 15th century and reportedly had 53 children.
