Bad Wildungen is located on the foothills of the Kellerwalds in the so-called holiday region Waldeck (Waldecker Land). The city, which extends east of the Homberg, is traversed by the Wilde, which flows into the Eder in the district of Wega. The districts of Wega and Mandern are located on the Eder. This river forms, further upstream, the Edersee, a reservoir that is about 10 km as the crow flies northwest of the core town of Bad Wildungen. The south-western districts of Hundsdorf, Armsfeld and Berg Freiheit are traversed by the Urff.
City structure
Bad Wildungen has 14 districts with the core city, most of which are forest villages:

A total of 4 lines every 30 minutes open up the core districts of Bad Wildungen (with old town and Brunnenallee), Altwildungen and Reitzenhagen as well as Reinhardshausen. With the Spa card the city bus can be used free of charge in these parts of the city. The central stop (called "Meeting Point") is at the northern end of Brunnenallee near the old town. - Further information: line network map and timetables for the individual lines on the [ https://www.bad-wildungen.de/de/service-kontakt/anreise-oepnv/oepnv-bus-bahn-taxi Page of the city of Bad Wildungen].
Park
There is a colored parking guidance system that leads to the individual parking spaces. The parking spaces are chargeable, with the exception of the parking garage Kaiserlindendeck and the parking lot at Fetten Hagen - both directly adjacent to the old town. Until further notice, there is still plenty of free parking in the parking deck of the Fürstengalerie at Breiten Hagen, it couldn't be more central.
On foot
In Bad Wildungen there are various attractive opportunities to take short and long walks: whether in the former state garden show park, through the spa park to the "Reinhardshausen" spa district or in the Helenental - there are many paths to discover. With the Brunnenallee, a beautiful promenade connects the half-timbered old town with the spa gardens. If that's not enough, there are more hiking and walking opportunities in the Kellerwald around the city. A nice hiking destination is z. B. the Homberg Tower. As a day hike, you can even go directly from the city to the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park hike. For more, see also section Go hiking and walking.
By bicycle
Although Bad Wildungen is quite mountainous, a lot has been done to encourage cycling. The city's cycle network is still being expanded. But beautiful routes have already emerged, such as B. the "urban" main route coming from Reinhardshausen through the Kur- und Landesgartenschaupark in the direction of Edertal to Wega (also part of the signposted round tour ER 4).
The R5 leads past the city.

- 1 Historic half-timbered old town with market place. The old town is on a hilltop. It should not be confused with the nearby Altwildungen district, in which Friedrichstein Castle is located.
- 2 City Church, At the Galgenberg. Winged altar from w: Conrad von Soest. The altar was probably built in 1403 or 1404. The town church itself was built as a late Gothic hall church in the 14th century. Laminated church guides in A4 format are available in the church for reading during the tour. Since 2004, a rose bush at the entrance of the Protestant town church has been commemorating the victims of the witch trials next to a plaque. 79 people fell victim to the witch trials. They were burned on the Galgenberg.
- 3 Evangelical Church Braunau. The hall building with a three-sided end was built in 1728 under the direction of Lulius Ludwig Rothweil. The west tower is crowned with a hood and a lantern.
- 4 Spa gardens - With 50 hectares, the complex is the largest spa park in Europe and stretches with the near-natural “green bridge” over a wooded valley up to the Reinhardshausen district. In the Wildunger Park there is the Wandelhalle with the Quellenmuseum, in the Reinhardshausener Kurpark there is also a Wandelhalle and the QuellenTherme (mineral bath).
- 5 Park for the State Horticultural Show 2006 - even though the exhibition is over, the elongated area is still worth a visit. The park begins as the "Königsquellenpark" in the valley north of the old town. There are different themed gardens to see. Tip: Im 6 "Garden of Leisure" there are six comfortable loungers to relax in. The garden can be found a little to the left below the large staircase.
- On the 7 Hexenwiese several executed women were buried by the executioner. In 1650 a defendant had signed this meadow over to the church to be buried there. The deanery, the Protestant church authority of the Eder parish, is located on this plot of land at 19 Langen Rod.

There are numerous hiking opportunities around Bad Wildungen.
- 1 Homberg (Kellerwald). A beautiful excursion destination close to the city is the freely accessible observation tower on the 518 m high Homberg. For the viewing platform, however, you have to be a bit free from giddiness, as the platform only has an open steel railing and not a massive stone parapet. From the tower you have a wide panoramic view. The structure was built in 1882.
- It's south of the city 13 Helenental, which also invites you to go for a walk. In the upper, partly gorge-like section of the valley, there is a small waterfall. The Helenenquelle can be tasted in the valley. There is also a restaurant here that is known for its homemade cakes. If you feel like it, you can 2 Observatory Dr. Marc tower rising up. From the small observation tower you have a beautiful view of Bad Wildungen. The rare one grows on the steep slope below the tower w: Pasque Flower, too Called Pasque Flower). The flower that blooms in early spring is under nature protection.
- Walk from the Braunau district to the 3 Braunauer Warte observation tower (about 1 km one way). The freely accessible watch tower can be climbed via a staircase. From the tower, built around 1350, you have a beautiful view to the west and north. You can see the mountains of the Kellerwald, Bad Wildungen, the Edertal and the elevations in the Habichtswald Nature Park near Kassel.
- The 4 Katzenstein viewing platformThe pulpit, marked on some maps without a name, is located in a wood above the spa gardens. The structure, reminiscent of a bunker, has seen better days. The freely accessible viewing platform is largely ingrown (Otherwise you would have a nice view of the city). Only in two places do you have small views. In the building there is also a dreary, dark shelter, the walls of which are decorated with "carvings" and graffiti. Access: From the Maritimhotel follow the road up the mountain towards the Rheumaklinik (turn sharply left). At the end of the "Am Katzenstein" street, a narrow path leads up to the viewing platform in the forest.
