Bad Wildungen is a spa town in North Hesse. The city is on the foothills of the Kellerwaldes and has the longest spa park in Europe, which extends to the Bad Reinhardshausen district.

Bad Wildungen is located on the foothills of the Kellerwalds in the so-called holiday region Waldeck (Waldecker Land). The city, which extends east of the Homberg, is traversed by the Wilde, which flows into the Eder in the district of Wega. The districts of Wega and Mandern are located on the Eder. This river forms, further upstream, the Edersee, a reservoir that is about 10 km as the crow flies northwest of the core town of Bad Wildungen. The south-western districts of Hundsdorf, Armsfeld and Berg Freiheit are traversed by the Urff.

getting there

By car

The next motorway junction is the "Wabern" junction on the A 49 (about 15 km away via the B 253). Bad Wildungen can be reached from the north via the A 49 (from the direction of kassel) very quickly.

City bus

Bad Wildungen has a quite extensive city bus system for its size. A total of 4 lines every 30 minutes open up the core districts of Bad Wildungen (with old town and Brunnenallee), Altwildungen and Reitzenhagen as well as Reinhardshausen. With the Spa card the city bus can be used free of charge in these parts of the city. The central stop (called "Meeting Point") is at the northern end of Brunnenallee near the old town. Park

There is a colored parking guidance system that leads to the individual parking spaces. The parking spaces are chargeable, with the exception of the parking garage Kaiserlindendeck and the parking lot at Fetten Hagen - both directly adjacent to the old town. Until further notice, there is still plenty of free parking in the parking deck of the Fürstengalerie at Breiten Hagen, it couldn't be more central.

On foot

In Bad Wildungen there are various attractive opportunities to take short and long walks: whether in the former state garden show park, through the spa park to the "Reinhardshausen" spa district or in the Helenental - there are many paths to discover. With the Brunnenallee, a beautiful promenade connects the half-timbered old town with the spa gardens. Although Bad Wildungen is quite mountainous, a lot has been done to encourage cycling. The city's cycle network is still being expanded. Hutewald Halloh

In the area of ​​the Albertshausen district there are two old forest protection areas with gnarled old oaks and beeches (up to 250 to 300 years old). The forest pieces are old forest pastures. Cattle were driven under the oaks to eat their fill of acorns. The small half-timbered church in Albertshausen is also worth seeing.
