Birch field is a city in Enztal. It is at the transition from Pfinzgau to the Northern Black Forest.

Birkenfeld was first mentioned in a document in 1302. In 1322 the place came to Württemberg through a seizure. The community of Birkenfeld consists of the suburbs of Birkenfeld and Graefenhausen, each of which still includes a few farms and hamlets.
